March 11, 2010 DHEC Hearing
SCE&G's application for 401 water quality certification

On March 11 there is a DHEC public hearing on SCE&G's application for 401 water quality certification of the proposed FERC license for Saluda Hydro. The hearing is March 11, 2010, 6:00 PM at Saluda Shoals Park in the Environmental Education Building.

Public Notice

Scheduling of Public Hearing

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control-Bureau of Water (DHEC) has scheduled a public hearing for 401 Water Quality Certification application P/N FERC-516-459 (20O9);  South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G).  SCE&G operates the Saluda Hydroelectric Project, Which is licensed as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Project No. 516-459.  SCE&G is required to obtain a new license from the FERC in order to continue operating the project, which is located in Richland, Lexington, Newberry and Saluda Counties and includes Lake Murray and the Lower Saluda River.

This public hearing is scheduled for
Thursday, March 11, 2010, 6:00 PM

Saluda Shoals Environmental Education Building,
5605 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC

All interested persons are urged to attend and voice their comments on the project on public notice.  Oral statements will be heard at the meeting, but for the sake of accuracy, important facts and statements should be submitted in written form to the presiding officer at the meeting or mailed to :
