Operation Game Thief is a program designed to allow you to get involved in the protection of your South Carolina natural resources. With the information and donations provided by concerned citizens, like yourself, Operation Game Thief assists DNR in the protection of South Carolina's wildlife, fish, coastal, and other resources. Rewards of up to $500 are paid to persons providing information leading to the arrest of natural resource law violators. You can report water pollution violations and problems directly to DEHEC at (803) 896-0620.
When you see water quality conditions that are of concern to you in Columbia's rivers then be sure to report your concerns with the SCDHEC Central Midlands EQC District Office. These are the DHEC folks who respond to reports about possible pollution problems in the metro-Columbia area.
Have you seen questionable sedimentation-erosion and polluted runoff, sewer spills, malfunctioning wastewater treatment plants?? Give them a call. By doing so you can help DHEC do their job of taking action against polluters. You also help to establish a record of citizen concerns and complaints about potential water pollution problems. Be observant and provide as much detail as you can to DHEC about the problem ...where, when, what you observed.
Do not grow weary in voicing your concerns. By remaining vocal you let them know citizens are there and concerned about their waters. So, keep this number handy and call to report your observations of pollution in our waters.
